Caring 2-year-old goes to dog shelter and chooses sick, shy pit bull in need of love

Everyone passed by this poor shelter pit bull, but one compassionate little girl knew she was the perfect dog ❤️

In shelters, there are numerous dogs that just want one thing: to find their forever homes. Unfortunately, it can take longer for some dogs than others. Whether it’s because of their breed, age, appearance, or health issues, many dogs are constantly overlooked by adopters in favor of younger, cuter puppies.

However, sometimes a compassionate person comes along and opens their heart to these dogs. For one pit bull in a shelter, this person was a 2-year-old girl who chose him over all the other dogs.

Audra Spurio took her daughter to the shelter to adopt a dog, never expecting that her daughter would be drawn to a sick and mangy pit bull. But the toddler sensed that the dog needed love and care and insisted on adopting him.

“My daughter wanted to meet her more than any other dog at the shelter that day,” Audra told The Dodo. Even though she recalls the dog “stunk like mange,” the little girl kept insisting, “Mommy, that one.”

“Let the doggy out. Need help,” Gigi said.

The girl’s wish was granted, and Gigi took the pit bull outside to play. Although the dog was scared and shy, the toddler was loving and patient with him. Many kids would have been disgusted by the dog’s condition, but Gigi saw a friend in need of her help. Playing outside, the two formed an immediate bond as the girl gave the dog kisses and belly rubs.

Audra said, “I watched this fearful dog melt in G’s hands. She would not let my daughter leave her side.”

When the pit bull was put back in her kennel, Gigi begged her mother to take the dog home so they could care for her. “Sick doggy, go home,” the two-year-old pleaded. Fortunately, the young girl’s wish was granted, and the sick pit bull that won her heart is now named Scarlett and in her new home.

“Scarlett is now at home and feeling much better,” Audra told The Dodo. “She still won’t let G out of her sight.”

The heartwarming story has received nearly 14 million views on YouTube, with many commenters expressing that Gigi and her empathy towards animals has given them hope for the future.

Such a sweet and caring child! We are delighted that Scarlett found someone to love and care for her and that she has a perfect home.
