A dog that was scared of being touched due to mistreatment is growing to appreciate the feeling of a supportive hand. After Monica Mitreanu published a video of Kayne at an animal sanctuary in Craiova, Romania, he attracted social media fans all over the world.
The innocent dog had been subjected to such severe maltreatment before being rescued that he genuinely screamed in dread at the prospect of being petted.
Monica Mitreanu attempted to comfort the unfortunate puppy by touching him, but he was so terrified that even the soft friendly touch seemed dangerous to him. Craiova is renowned as the “European capital of canine cruelty” because of the severity with which canines are handled at shelters there.
We now know that Kayne has been rehabilitated, is no longer the timid dog of old, and has given people another opportunity, according to a Facebook post from animal rescuer Kerry Wollacott, who works to help preserve dogs in Romania.
Kayne has subsequently been sent to a foster home in the United Kingdom, where he has found a new family, according to Kerry.
Kerry wrote on Facebook:
“He weighed roughly 6 kilos when he left Breasta, and today, thanks to the treatment he got, he weighs 9.5 kilos! Many thanks to the wonderful donor who covered the majority of the travel expenses.”
