Poor 2-Year-Old Dog Abandoned By Family At Shelter For ‘Fummaging Through Trash’

Poor Coby is scared and doesn’t understand what he did wrong.

Dogs are loyal, sweet creatures and always make time for their favorite humans. However, sometimes they do what we humans consider ‘naughty.’

But dogs don’t see it that way. they just follow their natural instincts.

The owner of a dog named Coby gave their dog a punishment that didn’t match Coby’s “naughty”. Instead of them continuing to care for the 2-year-old dog, they decided to drop it off at a shelter.

They did it only because they were tired of Coby the dog rummaging through their trash cans. Yes, what an unwarranted punishment for a perfectly normal behaved dog.

Shelter volunteer Samira El-Hage shared footage of the frightened dog on the Friends of Fairfield County SC Animal Shelter Facebook page.

The video shows the poor puppy hiding in a corner at the Fairfield County Shelter in South Carolina, wondering why its owner abandoned it.

Samira shared along with the clip, “I didn’t know he was the one who surrendered… surrendered because he kept putting it in the trash?? I thought he was picked up as a lost person.”

“That explains why he was terrified of losing his mind… almost like a wild dog… but not once did he growl, or try to bite.

He wanted to hide under the raised bed or run away when we were out.

“He kept trying to chew on the leash and wouldn’t look at us, he had to be picked up and brought back… and he just stood in that corner, facing the wall.”

However, don’t worry, because this story finally has a happy ending.

Dodo reports that in addition to Samira, another person was also touched by Coby’s situation. Leigh Maddox, Founder of Cats Compassion Foundation in Delaware, was completely disbelieving after hearing this story.

She couldn’t understand why a family would abandon their pet – who is clearly so sweet and loving – for such a small thing.

She immediately planned a nine-hour journey for Coby, where, with the help of the Pilots n Paws charity, he would be transported to his new home with his new, loving adoptive mother, Olivia. Fritz.

Leigh told The Dodo, “He tugged at my heart and I immediately knew we had to pull him [from the shelter].”

During his first month in his new home, he was understandably still shaking and apprehensive. But he was already warm to his new life.

Fritz adds, “My personal dogs have ALWAYS been trash diggers and we as a family have come up with creative ways to help address that behavior.

Here’s what a family should do when it comes to dogs – don’t dump them in shelters. The whole story just broke my heart. He’s super special to the rescue and he’ll get nothing but the best home when he’s ready! “

Coby’s story went viral and apps poured in to adopt him.

Before long, the sweet boy found his permanent home, a place where he could grow up to be the dog he wanted to be.

What a wonderful happy ending.
