Over time, the dog recovered, but sadly he lost his vision completely. However, his rescuer never left him. She continued to visit him frequently at the shelter, talking to him and comforting him in his warm, kind voice.

The most exciting moment came when the rescuer went to visit the blind dog after not seeing him for a while. Hearing the familiar voice, the dog reacted immediately. His ears perked up, his tail began to wag, and with a burst of happiness, he began running toward the direction of the voice with amazing determination.

“Arafa is my blind guardian and he follows me everywhere,” Ahmed said. Every day before starting the work day, Ahmed arrives at the shelter and sweetly calls his faithful companion, Arafa euphorically runs out to greet him. Between hectic jumps, tender tail movements and sweet kisses, this couple greets each other and begins a new day where they almost always stay together the rest of the day. “He is exhilarating. It never ceases to amaze me how elated Arafa displays when I show up at the Furever Refuge. It just goes to show that a dog’s love is unconditional and extraordinarily pure,” Ahmed said.

The dog made its way through the shelter area, skillfully avoiding obstacles despite his blindness, and finally reached the open arms of his rescuer. The reunion was truly emotional, with the dog licking and jumping for joy as his rescuer hugged him lovingly.

The video of the emotional encounter was widely shared on social media, with thousands of people moved by the story of this brave blind dog and his unconditional love for his rescuer. Many praised the rescuer for his dedication and compassion towards animals, and highlighted the importance of adopting and caring for homeless pets.

“They are doing very well. I can’t even begin to describe the joy I feel when we see our rescues improve. The unconditional gratitude and love of the dogs is inspiring, their ability to move on in life is incredible,” Ahmed said. Arafa shows us that there are no barriers to showing love and that everything can be overcome when the right help is received.
